Food Drive Extended into December

Poplar Place Apartments’ 5^th Annual Food Drive has been extended into December!

It’s the time of year for saying "Thanks"

Continuing through December 20, 2012

We did not collect as many donations as we had hoped for during the Thanksgiving holiday, so the food drive has been extended into December. During the food drive we can truly made a difference in the community for the holiday season. With the generous efforts and contributions of our wonderful residents and Management, this year we know that together we can make an even greater impact on the community! So let’s take a moment and think about how many people can be fed if we collect even more items. Please place whatever food or personal hygiene items in any paper or plastic bag(s) and drop it off at the leasing office. Your contributions will be taken to the Inner-Faith Council.

As an added incentive to give, you will have your name entered for every item donated into a drawing to win $100 off of January 2013 rent! The more you donate the better chance you have to win!

Items most needed:

Canned meats, canned vegetables, pasta and pasta sauce, soup, dried beans, canned fruit, rice, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, grits and oatmeal packets.

Personal Hygiene:

Toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss, deodorant, razors and shaving cream, soap and shampoo, lotion, washcloths, feminine products, diapers, blankets, space heaters, box fans. All non-perishable items are appreciated.

*Please drop off all items in the leasing office by 6:00 pm on December 20, 2012.

**Please remember that donated items can not be opened, expired or contain any alcohol.

COMMNITY MEETING

On Wednesday, October 24th, we invite everyone to attend our Community/Safety Meeting here at the Poplar Place clunhouse.  We will have a member of the police here to speak to everyone and answer questions regarding safety, the recent crime in the area and what you can do to help prevent crime from happening to you.  We really encourage everyone to attend to get all the up to date information.  Remember, this is a great opportunity to have your questions answered by a police officer as he will be here for all of you that night. 

The time of the meeting will be from 6pm unitl 7:30pm, and there will be snacks provided.

Rent Reminder

Just a reminder that tomorrow, 10/5/2012,  is the last day to pay rent before late fees are added.  You can pay in the rental office or pay online.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

 
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti crime programs.  It strengthens the neighborhood spirit and police-community parterships, and it sends a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods or organized and fighting back.

Please join the Poplar Place team along with members of the Carrboro Police Department this coming Tuesday, 8/7/2012 night from 6pm to 8pm.  This is a chance to meet your neighborhood police and ask any questions you may have.

Weekly Pest Control

Crabtree Pest Control comes out every week on Wednesdays to service our buildings and your apartment home by request.  Should you need pest control services, we ask that you call in or place your request before the end of business hours on Tuesdays.  Any request received after that time will be put on the list for the following week.

PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR PETS

In our continuing efforts to improve our properties values and enhance the curb appeal  of Poplar Place Apartments, we are asking that all pet owners abide by the rules and guidelines in the Lease Agreement and Pet Agreement signed when you move in/renewed with us. As everyone should know, these rules and guidelines require each pet owner to immediately pick up their pet’s waste. Pets are also to be walked on a leash at all times when on the Poplar Place property.

During a recent walk around with the property,, we were amazed at the numerous piles of dog waste found in and around the community. Pet waste is unsightly and poses a health risk to other animals and to children.

Should it be witnessed that any resident or their guests are found to be in violation will at first receive a written warning. There will be a $100.00 fine for a second offense and non-renewal of the lease for the third and final violation.

Please help by reporting to Management anyone seen not following the pet rules and regulations.

Ice Cream Social

Want us to take out the trash?

On Tuesday, May 15th we will do just that! Please leave your properly closed trash bags (2 max) outside your front door by 9:00 am on the 15th and the PPA staff will make the rounds and take it out for you.

Accepting Packages in the Office

Many of you already know that we will sign for your UPS, Fed Ex, or USPS packages in the office if you are not home. Please remember that a photo ID is required every time you come to pick up your package. We may know you, but to be fair to everyone, we must see your photo ID every time you pick up your package.
We appreciate everyone's understanding.

Submitting Online Service Requests

Most everyone knows that service requests can be submitted online without having to call or come by the leasing office. This is especially helpful after hours and weekends. When submitting a request, please be as specific as possible as to what the issue may be. For example, if there is an issue with your dishwasher, don't just say "not working". Tell us if the water isn't coming out, it's not draining, etc. This gives our service team the knowledge they will need to best find a solution to an make the needed repairs.

Poplar Place February Events!

February 14th is the day to stop by the leasing office for a sweet treat. We are playing the cupcake game again this year. When you stop by the office on Tuesday, February 14th you can get a cupcake. Inside a select few are colored candy hearts that could earn you $5, $10, or $15 off your March rent.!

We are also having our Annual Chili Cookoff. On Saturday, February 25th, bring your homemade chili up to the clunhouse to share with others and enter for the change to win a prize. Flyers will be posted as to the time of the cookoff. Hope to see everyone there!

Girl Scout Cookies!

It's that time of year again for Girl Scout Cookies. We have a young resident who is selling them for her troup, and would love it if everyone could help and buy a box or two of cookies. There is even a special that if you buy at lease 5 boxes, you will get a code and be entered to win and additional 60 boxes cookies! That's a lot of thin mints. :-)

Get your rent in by the end of the day to avoid late fees!
