Blood Drive

On Thursday, August 25th, OWASA, Anna Maria's and the American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive from 11 am to 3:30 pm in the Community Room at the OWASA Administration Building, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro.

OWASA will dedicate the blood drive in honor of Engineering Technician, Sandy Beckham, who will retire on September 1st with 32 years of service to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community. In 1982, Mr. Beckham began OWASA's blood drive program.

There is a need for all blood types, particularly O negative.

To participate in a blood drive, donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds (donors under 19 years old will have to meet certain height and weight requirements), be in good general health and have a photo ID.

Anna Maria's and OWASA will provide food for the blood drive.

Presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free box of chocolate-dipped fruit from Edible Arrangements.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact Ms. Kelly Chapman of OWASA at 537-4370 or kchapman@owasa.org. Getting an appointment will make the donation process faster for everyone who participates. Walk-ins are welcome after noon.
